Student Leadership Day Celebrated at IMS, Noida

It has time and again been noted that there exists a great gap between the Academia and the Industry in India. Indian Industrial Sector is booming in the global market and the gap instead of shrinking seems to be increasing more than ever before. To address this issue and highlighting on various ways that can reduce this gap, PMI North India Chapter organized “The Student Leadership Day” at the Institute of Management Studies, Noida. The program focused on providing the students an insight into managing their time & work so that they lead themselves into seizing career opportunities that best suits them.

The major attraction of this event was the speech delivered by Mr.Upendra Giri, a founder and CEO of AstroWix Corporation, a company exclusively committed to the Project and Program Management discipline. Pointing out that leaders are not born, each one of us can cultivate leadership skills and establish oneself as a leader, Mr. Upendra, emphasized on various real life scenarios, which the students could relate

to. He further said, “A leader should be a visionary. He must have the aptitude to communicate about his vision to his people. He must have the ability to offer his people the blue print of the roadmap to reach the goal.”

Mr. Rihan Khan Suri, Training & Placement Officer, Jamia Millia Islamia underlined on the fact that today students need to recognize their goals in life and work accordingly to achieve those goals. Further adding to Mr. Giri’s statement, he said that planning for each day is a must for any student to nourish ones’ leadership skills.

The program was an eye opening experience to the students on the discipline of project management and the missions of Project Management Institute, USA. It also focused to explore project management as a career as well as the practical usage of project management in the routine life of the students. The interest and contributions from the audience was vital in making the event accomplish its objectives.
